The company offers checking, savings, individual retirement, and health care savings accounts, as well as other time deposits, including money market accounts and certificates of deposit. It also provides small- and medium-sized business loans for use in purchase of equipment, facilities upgrades, inventory acquisition, and various working capital; commercial and residential construction, and development loans; loans to borrowers secured by commercial real estate; residential mortgage; and secured and unsecured consumer loans, including personal loans, lines of credit, overdraft lines of credit, automobile loans, installment loans, demand loans, and home equity loans. In addition, the company offers investment advisory and financial planning services; securities brokerage and other investment services; insurance and annuity products, such as life insurance, fixed annuities, and disability insurance; safe deposit boxes, traveler's checks, direct deposit of payroll and social security checks, automatic drafts for various accounts, treasury management services, and credit card merchant services; automated teller machines; and telephone and internet banking, including online bill pay. Bank of the James Financial Group, Inc. was founded in 1999 and is headquartered in Lynchburg, Virginia.
